20th June: Snowboy and the Latin Section
An exceptional evening in the beautiful surrounds of Iford Manor’s Grade 1 listed gardens with Europe's leading Afro-Cuban jazz performers and recording artists. Grab your friends, picnic blankets and drinks for an evening of peripatetic delight.
Bring your own food and drink, or save the hassle and enjoy a 'pre-concert' meal in Iford Manor Kitchen prior to the concert. Menus to be made available nearer the time of the event.
Event timings:
18:00 - garden gates open for picnics & live jazz on the lawn
18:00 - 20:30: DJ Mike Vitti at the summer house
20:30 - 21:50: Snowboy and the Latin Section, LIVE at the casita
21:50 - 22:30: DJ Mike Vitti at the summer house
22:30: Finish
In the casita….
Snowboy and The Latin Section are Europe’s leading Afro-Cuban Jazz performers and recording artists, led by multi-percussionist Mark ‘Snowboy’ Cotgrove.
Rather than the more modern 'slow' latin that you hear in salsa classes, Snowboy is here to keep stoking the fire and ensure excitement throughout their live performances and records, the way Latin music is meant to be.
They deliver the Mambo-influenced messages that Tito Puente did and Eddie Palmieri do.
As a percussionist in many styles, Snowboy has performed or recorded with Lisa Stansfield, Imelda May, Amy Winehouse, Rod Temperton, Mark Ronson, Basia, Simply Red, Makoto Kuriya, Gibonni, Flaco Jimenez, Airto Moreira, Deodato, Mick Hucknall, Herman Olivera, Jon Lucien, Rustin Man, David Sylvian, James Taylor Quartet, Mica Paris, Incognito, Patti Austin, Big Boy Bloater, Mother Earth, Corduroy, Jim Kerr and many many more.
On the lawn….
Needing no introduction as he returns for his 4th year here, renowned DJ Mike Vitti brings Saturday Night's Funky Nation from Ronnie's Bar (upstairs at Ronnie Scott's) to Iford. Playing from the Summer House you can enjoy modern jazz classics during your picnic, then dance the night away later on the lawn.
